The Dhulikhel Nagarkot Changunarayan hiking is situated in the natural and ancient cultural city of Bhaktapur. It is one of the shortest travel packages near Kathmandu Valley. Traveling through Bhaktapur’s lush green forest trails, scenic Himalayan backdrops, and ancient fine arts dating back to the Malla Dynasty period are some of the major highlights of this trip.
Furthermore, this 2-day cultural hike is perfect for people looking for a quick vacation away from the bustling noise of the city. Here, this hike will take you past the three major landmarks: Dhulikhel, Nagarkot, and Chagunarayan, where the highest altitude point is Nagarkot, at a manageable 2,175 meters. This is another reason why this trip is a delight for novice travelers and a perfect family getaway.
Moreover, the Dhulikhel Nagarkot Changunarayan hiking is perfect for an up-close sightseeing experience alongside the cultural influence of the local lifestyle. As the whole trip takes place within the borders of Bhaktapur, you will get to immerse yourself deep into the Hindu religion and its tradition as well. The major cultural highlights come with the World Heritage Site listed by UNESCO, an ancient city filled with spectacular monuments, temples, stone taps, and extraordinary fine arts.
Similar to the cultural perspective, this journey has much to provide in its natural state. During these two days of hike, you will see multiple lush forests, hill stations, and narrow alleys. Not to mention, the spectacular views of mountain ranges such as Mount Everest, Langtang Lirung, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Annapurna are a star of the journey too. Now, you can indeed get these mesmerizing mountain views all year round, but still they are much more prominent during the peak seasons of Spring and Autumn.
Moving on, the best part of this particular 2-day cultural hike is that it is accessible and manageable all year round, with different surprises and highlighting points in each season. So, even if you are an experienced traveler or just an aspiring hiker looking for a route to start with, this hike is made just for you.
If you are up for the journey, let us take you for a quick overview. Your Dhulikhel Nagarkot Changunarayan hiking starts with a bus ride. While the Dhulikhel Nagarkot Changunarayan hiking is accessible all year round, Spring (March, April, and May) and Autumn (September, October, and mid-November) are the best seasons for the journey. This is simply because these seasons have clear blue skies, moderate temperatures, and a joyful climate.
Furthermore, if you are hiking during these seasons, you will get to experience a mild temperature close to 20°C. Likewise, you will also have a chilly and relaxing morning and evening every day. However, the best part of the season is you will get to enjoy the clear blue sky, blooming flowers, and mountain views without any obstruction.
Additionally, most of the major festivals and celebrations of Nepal fall during these seasons. On the other hand, both Summer/Monsoon (June, July, and August) and Winter (December, January, and February) have their own perks, but the weather is often unfavorable. While the Monsoon season provides breathtaking views and fresh surroundings, you may encounter heavy rainfall without notice.
Not to mention, it also calls for leeches, cloudy skies, and slippery roads. Moving on to the Winter season, the days are pretty cold, and often, the skies are hidden with fog and clouds, obstructing the views afar. Having said that, each of these seasons is a journey of its own kind. When you travel during Spring or Winter, you are bound to be blown away by rich cultural experiences and a relaxing natural environment.
